DayVenture: 24K Mills50 Magic in the Air
Tasty Wok \ Kawaii Nekko \ Burrow \ Bakery 1908
School was out, and it was a cold, dreary afternoon in the Sunshine state – this felt like a perfect day to wander Mills50 without a plan.
Directly north of downtown, the Mills 50 District is one of those Orlando pockets that rewards curiosity—artsy without being loud, charming without being curated, and packed with independent small businesses that feel genuinely loved by the folks who run them.
This Dayventure was all about comfort food, cozy shopping, and ending on a sweet, slow note. No rushing. No overplanning. Just vibes.
Comfort First at Tasty Wok
There are dozens of excellent Asian restaurants in the Mill50s area, making it a solid adventure activity choosing just one. We often just park close to Mills and walk down Colonial (SR 50) to see what’s new. Since we had plans to visit a few shops, we wanted something satisfying and quick – and opted to start our day with food that hugs you back at Tasty Wok.
They serve no frills, classic Chinese cuisine, with some authentic stand-out dishes. This isn’t a food blog per say – but it’s pure vibes on a cold day to try:

Why it works for today’s adventure:
- Fast enough to keep the day moving (and the kids happy)
- Filling without being heavy
🐱 Kawaii Neko
Now for the heart of the Dayventure—the browsing that turns into lingering.
Kawaii Neko is pure serotonin in shop form and perfect posed for chasing away those midwinter blues. but Kawaii Neko is for any age – they have rare blind bags, plushies, adorable collectibles, even some not so kid friendly priced Labubu’s fully pierced and tattooed for the most discerning collector.
They also have crane style machines, and with its brightly lit pink decor and bubbly house tracks, is the perfect way to chase away some of the gloomy blues you may get during our short winter weeks.

Perfect for:
- Kids (obviously)
- Adults who love cute things and refuse to apologize for it
- Gift shopping that actually feels fun

🍰 Sweet Finish: Settle In at Bakery 1908

Every Dayventure deserves a soft landing, and Bakery 1908 is exactly that.
Grab a pastry, a slice of cake, or something warm and flaky, then sit. Talk. People-watch. Let the day exhale. This isn’t a grab-and-go moment—it’s the punctuation mark at the end of a really good sentence.
🌿 Insider Tips (Because You’re a Local Now)
- Best timing: Late morning into early afternoon. Shops feel relaxed, and you won’t feel rushed anywhere.
- Parking: Mostly street parking—easy, but keep an eye on signage. If one block looks full, the next usually isn’t.
- Who this Dayventure is perfect for:
- Families with kids who love cute + creative spaces
- Couples looking for something different than brunch + Target
- New Orlando locals learning where the soul of the city actually lives
- Make it extra special: Pick one small “memory item” from either Kawaii Neko or The Burrow—something inexpensive but joyful—to anchor the day.
✨ Why This Dayventure Works
This isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about belonging.
The V.I.M.I. District reminds you that Orlando isn’t just theme parks and traffic—it’s neighborhoods, passion projects, and places that feel like they were made by people who care. This Dayventure is cozy, colorful, and quietly magical… which is kind of Citrus Soul in a nutshell.
